Dry Fuel Storage

Storing Spent Fuel

Here at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant we have begun the process to create dry storage for our spent nuclear fuel. Dry fuel storage, also known as dry cask storage, has been employed by other nuclear power companies since 1986. So while it’s new to Pilgrim, dry cask storage has a long history as an effective and very safe alternative to storing spent fuel.

Click through the slide show below or read our Pilgrim Dry Cask Fact Sheet/Q&A for details about spent fuel storage and specifics on our project.
